Postdoctoral Fellow
I am an agroecologist who uses mixed methods to support more diverse, multifunctional farms and landscapes. I am most hopeful about the future when I collaborate with others to overcome challenges and co-create pathways toward a more just and sustainable agri-food system.
Agnes Vari
Postodoctoral Fellow
I work on ecosystem services, mapping and assessing them, being interested in both the process (selection of methods, tools & indicators), and related conceptual questions. I strive to obtain results that can provide answers relevant for local as well as for higher level decision making, to optimize how we use land for supporting both biodiversity and people.
Jackie Hamilton
PhD Candidate
I study the complex but often overlooked connections between humans and trees using a mix of methods. I hope to shine light on the less obvious ways we're intertwined with nature to foster a greater understanding of how these relationships matter.
Elson Ian Nyl Ebreo Galang
PhD Candidate
Am passionate in facilitating collaborative spaces where diverse worldviews can flourish in co-producing knowledge for sustainable environmental futures. I currently study how these spaces influence how everyone think, feel, and aspire for the future.
Catherine Destrempes
MSc Student
I am fascinated by the connection between humans and nature and focus my work in the lab on ways to enhance ecosystem services through restoration actions. Ultimately, I wish to contribute to our understanding of how we can safeguard and restore nature, while also ensuring a sustainable future for nature and people alike.
Peter Morrison
MSc Student
I study the benefits people obtain from ecosystems, how they are defined, and the underlying pathways creating those benefits. My long-term goal is to help develop tools and analysis that will support better management of biodiversity.
David Ferguson
MSc Student
I am interested in better understanding how the use of data and tools allow us to address and comprehend the complexity of ecosystem structures, functions, and services.
Olivia St-Laurent
MSc Student
I study transformations towards more socially and ecologically sustainable pathways. Through my work, I hope to better understand how change leaders interact across sectors to create positive and meaningful change.
Anna Pieper
Undergraduate / ResNet Administrative Assistant
In my summer project, I analysed the current phosphorus budget in the St. Lawrence Watershed. Building on a retrospective analysis, I aim to derive insights and learnings for future management practices. As a lab member, I’m interested in system-ecology and interactions and impacts between humans and nature.
Ela Vermette-Furst
Undergraduate / ResNet Administrative Assistant
I am a budding social-ecological scientist exploring the relationship between environmental policy, ecological resilience and Indigenous food sovereignty using “two-eyed seeing” approaches. My work is co-produced with Indigenous leaders and emphasizes the vital role of Indigenous voices and knowledge in sustainable environmental governance.
Heather Brown
Undergraduate
I am studying the health and composition of ash trees across forest and non forested landscapes across the Mont Saint-Hilaire Biosphere Reserve. While the native ash have been decimated by the invasive emerald ash borer, I hope to understand how and which management strategies and ecology may help the surviving ash trees.
John Clark
Research Consultant
I am a landscape ecologist and geospatial developer. I have a passion for building tools to bridge spatial scales and derive meaningful insights into environmental dynamics.
Nicole Middlemiss
ResNet Network Manager
I am a research administrator with over fifteen years’ experience supporting programs at McGill and at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal. I manage ResNet’s budget and expenses, plan meetings and events, and provide support to ResNet’s diverse projects and initiatives.
